Feeding the Shooters
Stepping In
This
is a method of
getting closer to the post to shoot.
The Shooter sets to shot and then turns and passes the ball
out to either the WA or C.
She then steps forward and receives the ball back from the
feeder.
Coaching Points
The shooter must
remember which foot she has landed on as she catches the ball
in the circle
If she lands on her left foot she must step forward
onto her right foot and turn to her left, otherwise "footwork"
will be called
As she turns she bends down and passes the ball back
to the feeder as though she were making a rugby pass!!
She remains bending down and receives a quick ball
back from the feeder
The shooter then straightens up and prepares to shoot
She can perform the same exercise, but this time she
must step forward onto her left foot and turn to her right
It is essential that the shooter sets up to shot to encourage
the defender to move back to 3'
and that the ball is given back very quickly to her.
The WA and C must be aware of which way the shooter is going
to turn, and be positioned so that
the pass can be made to them. They must understand that if
the shooter lands on her left foot she will then
step onto her right foot and turn
to her left and vice versa
