DECISION MAKING
EXERCISE
BASED ON "LONE RECEIVER" ROUTINE
No. 24
from our WARM UP ROUTINES & PRACTICES
NO.2 netball video
- Allow
your players time to get used to the routine
- Once
you are happy with the way they are landing and turning,
bring in the DECISION MAKING
aspect of the routine
- When
X1 has made her landing and turns to face R, both R and
the next X can either have their hands "open"
or their hands are "closed"
- X1
then has to decide which player has her hands "open"
- If
both players have their hands "open", then the
worker can pass to either of them
- If
both of the players have their hands "closed",
then the worker has to pivot around and pass the ball back
to the feeder F,
and the routine continues with the next X
Sometimes
I feel the players go on automatic pilot and just want to
get to the end of the routine as quickly as possible. This
exercise makes them think about who they have to pass the
ball to and starts to develop the DECISION MAKING skill, which
is so important in Netball.
