News of Jo's trip to Tanzania will be published when she and the students return

    Hi everyone.

    Many of you will know Jo as she has been coaching our juniors for many years.   Jo lectures at Tauntons College in Southampton and
    this year has been working with Claire with our U14s.
     
    Jo is taking a group of 40 students (and staff) from Tauntons to Moshi, Tanzania during the summer for a 10 day trip when all the students will be helping to build part of a school.  They will be staying with the local villagers and as Jo knows from previous trips to Tanzania, the local children there have very little - this is where you come in as our out of date/slightly worn/not used/duplicated things would be so appreciated.
     
    I know how kind and generous you all are so I would like to propose that we donate 40 shoeboxes (or a carrier bag if you don't have a shoebox) - one box for every person to take with them on this trip to give to a village child with our best wishes. 
     
    In essence, light small things are best which means lots of items can be packed into a box.  No food or sharp implements please.
    Here's some examples of what they need - it'll take about 10-15 minutes of your time!
     
    Any small toys/trinkets/key rings/
    Small bouncy balls
    Balloons
    Old trainers
    Old make up e.g. eyeshadow/lipsticks/nail varnish
    Crayons
    Old jewellery
    Games/cards
    Biros
    Pencils (needed before any child is allowed to attend school)
    Coloured pens
    Small pads of paper (needed before any child is allowed to attend school)

    Spread the word - all shoeboxes needed by the end of term.
    Let's go for it!!  I'll give you an update on how we are progressing.
